Freedom from history

I have been preoccupied by the past
As if it were a solid form
a dark building
I have escaped

but only just.

And still a lot goes on there

Now I have found a way to leave behind
the trap of my history

The cloak of fantasies and tragedies I created to hold me firm
I thought.

Until I recognised
that cloak
was really concealing

who I am.

By cutting each tie one by one
I set myself free

free to run forward into myself.
